DETROIT, Aug. 26, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company, today announced the launch of the industry's first Sports Media Mobile Site Performance Index. Of the 12 sites measured on the index, only one is providing page load time speeds that meet consumers' expectations of five seconds or less according to a recent mobile study.

Historically the months of August and September are the busiest for sports sites as NFL fans gear up for the season ahead and head online for news and buzz about their favorite teams and players. The U.S. Sports Media mobile site performance index measures the performance of mobile-optimized versions of leading sports media websites across four carrier and device combinations.

Only one of the 12 sports media sites measured for the benchmark in July of 2011 provided an average response time under five seconds: WWE had an average response time of 4.5 seconds. The remaining eleven sites, which provided load time speeds ranging from 8.3 seconds to more than 20 seconds, are not meeting consumers' expectations.

Gomez Benchmarks, recognized as the standard in providing a comprehensive set of global independent web and mobile performance metrics, publishes the first "rank of ranks" of the mobile performance for the leading sports media websites in the U.S. across four carrier and device combinations - AT&T/iPhone, Sprint/HTC Hero, T-Mobile/HTC Dream and Verizon/Droid.
